Johnston County Homes for Sale
Johnston County is south-east of Wake County. The largest town is Clayton, and the county seat is Smithfield. Other Johnston County communities are Archer Lodge, Benson, Four Oaks, Kenly, Micro, Pine Level, Princeton, Selma, and Wilson’s Mills, though if you drive through parts of those communities, you may not even realize it. The county has seen incredible increases in population in the last ten years, and the completion of I-540 is probably going to make that growth continue.
Johnston County is home to Johnston Community College, a public, two-year post-secondary college located in Smithfield, NC. The county is the nation’s top sweet potato producing county, accounting for 10 percent of the total U.S. production. Hogs, beef cattle, and poultry are the major forms of livestock in the county.
